Vegetable Pulao in 25 minutes




What is pulao?

Pulao is a one pot rice dish made by cooking fragrant basmati rice with aromatic spices. This veg pulao recipe is one of the basic dish made often in many Indian homes.
Since this is the simplest of the Indian rice dishes made with very little preparation, it is super quick & ridiculously easy to make even for a party when you have a crowd.

Ingredients:( for 4 servings)

1 cup basmati rice
2 1/2 cups of water
1 medium size onion ( sliced)
2 green chillies ( or to taste)
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 cup green peas
1 small potato ( diced into small pieces)
1/4 cup sweet corns
1/2 cup soya chunks
1/4 cup green beans
2 tablespoons cumin seeds
Salt to taste
1/2 tablespoon pav bhaji masala
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
2 cloves
1 green cardamom ( elaichi)
2 tablespoons oil to sauté


Recipe:

  1. Put oil in a pan and once its hot , add jeera in it
  2. Add onions to it and saute it until it turns golden brown
  3. Add all the remaining veggies into it and sauté for 3 minutes
  4. Add all the spices into it now
  5. Add water into the pan and let it boil
  6. Wash rice thoroughly and once water starts boiling add rice into it
  7. Cover it with the lid and put it on medium flame for 10 minutes
  8. Turn off the flame and let it stay covered for 5 minutes
  9. Serve it hot with yogurt
