Healthy Besan Cheela for Weight Loss



Besan Cheela is also known as Vegan Omellete or Gram flour Pancakes which consists of Besan (Gram flour) and lots of veggies of your choice. It is very good for health as it is Gluten free and also promotes Weight Loss. This Besan Cheela is very easy to make and takes only 10 minutes. It is a delicious breakfast recipe which goes well with the combination of Banana Milkshake which gives you energy in the morning.

Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients for Besan Cheela: (serves 2)

 1 cup of Besan (Gram flour)
3 tbsp. of Green Pepper (capsicum)- finely chopped
3 tbsp. of Carrots- finely chopped
1/4 cup of onions - finely chopped
1/2 tbsp. of salt (according to taste)
1 green chilli- finely chopped
1/2 tsp. of turmeric (haldi)
1 tsp. of Cumin powder (jeera powder)
1/4 cup of water (adjust according to flowing consistency of batter)
1 tbsp. of Oil (for brushing skillet or non stick pan) 

Recipe for Besan Cheela:

  • In a mixing bowl take Besan, add all the spices into it.
  • Gradually add water and check , the batter should be in thick flowing consistency. 
  • Add all the veggies into the batter and check the consistency, add little water if you think batter is thick for pouring.
  • Brush your skillet/tava or non-stick pan with the oil over a medium flame.
  • Pour batter over the tava/pan and spread it with the spatula/spoon to make thin.
  • Turn it golden brown from both the sides by flipping carefully.
  • Flip it only when one side it almost done otherwise it will break.
  • Serve it with Mint/Coriander Chutney or your choice of sauce.
  • Enjoy it with Banana Milkshake to make your morning energetic.

Quick Tips:

  1. Do not add too much water into the batter otherwise your cheela will break while flipping because of thin flowing consistency.
  2. Do not turn the flame to high, otherwise your cheela will be burnt from outside but will remain uncooked from center.
